The Kingston Fire Department Dive Rescue Team consists of 6 full time fire fighter/ EMT/ divers. The non-diving members of the department are trained in surface support and as dive tenders. Divers conduct monthly drills and are trained to the advanced open water level with specialties in public safety diving, search and recovery, night and limited visibility, drysuits, full face masks, and ice diving.
A total of 9 members of the department are also members of the Plymouth County Technical Rescue/ Dive Team (PCTRT). PCTRT is made up of approx. 50 members from 28 different fire departments in Plymouth County and responds to technical rescues and dive emergencies as a regional team providing manpower and specialized equipment. Divers train monthly with each other
The department purchased 6 DUI Public Safety Diver drysuits 2 years ago. DUI was selected for their reputation in durability, fit, and flexibility. We have been very satisfied with our decision to buy these drysuits. The Public Safety Diver drysuit is a time proven TLS350 with the addition of high visibility reflective tape. The RockBoots provide stable footing and comfort during long activations. Large cargo pockets were installed on each leg and coldwater hoods and gloves were also purchased. DUI’s ActionWear Professional was purchased in the two piece design with matching socks allowing each diver to change their insulation level easily as well as quickly dressing while wearing their duty uniform. The drysuits allow for quick donning, easy surface swimming, and a very comfortable dive. The drysuits are simple to wash and dry quickly. We have recommended the DUI drysuits to other dive teams and are in fact the envy of many surrounding fire department dive teams. Thanks DUI!!
